REST ON ME
Kristine surprises her old mentor Mang
Domeng, a blind street musician who also plays at the Hacienda
in the evening. He explains his life to Kristine.
REST ON ME
I have seen the sky like a canvass on my eyes
Followed clouds wherever they may sail.
And I have dreamed and I have named them one by one
Numbering the days I waste and save.
I have felt the rain wet my head again
Catching me where I can't run or hide.
And it has seemed such a long time
Remembering when I had laughed and cried.
Look at me, have I changed?
Do you see more joy than pain?
Has my spirit weakened from the wind?
Tell me now, make me wise
Let me see God through your eyes
For it feels so good to know that you're my friend
Kristine: Some things in the past
Looked like they would last
Only to be blown away in time.
But here I am,
Trying to understand,
Wondering about the things that we may find.
Look at me, is it so?
Are we free to come and go?
Do you feel so tired of standing all alone?
Rest on me, make me strong,
I have stood alone too long,
I'm so glad that we could call this time
Our own.
Domeng and Kristine:
Rest on me, make me strong
We have stood alone too long
And I'm so glad that we could call this time
Our own.
Mang Domeng walks off as soldiers enter.
These are elite forces called up from the Mindanao war to end
the rebellion. They clear the park for Capt. Odel, then leave
Odel and Kristine by themselves.
