ALMOND EYES

You there with the almond eyes,
Have you never ever been just a little bit surprised?
Is your day just another dawn to dusk?
And in between you really dont expect that much?
Have you heard the skys about to fall?
Are you in a talking mood at all?
Yesterday, I wore a smiling face,
Walking down the road in the cold
Looking for a warmer place:
Found a little hole in a bookstore down the corner;
Drank up with a stranger in a friendly bar and grille;
And in this weekend party
You say a song for the supper,
Thats the deal.
So here I sit and I watch the dancers flying by,
All on my own I see them spin inside my mind,
Spin around but all I see is empty space,
Spin around then I see your smiling face.
Lady, heal a broken wing.
Have you ever seen what pain can do
To a lover of happy things?
I believe you know what it means to be
So far away from home.
But this place is a whole lot warmer
Than the bookstores I have known.
You remind me of a smile I used to know
I think I better step outside
And wait for snow.
So here I stand and I see the dark side of the moon,
Inside the people listen to the singer and his tune
Spin around and all I see is empty space
Spin around and then Im back inside your place.
Lady with the almond eyes,
I can stare at you forever even though
I never cared for long goodbyes.
I got a little hope and I stashed it in my doggy bag.
Been singing all night long
About the good times you and I once had.
You remind me of that smile I used to know.
I think I better stop remembering
Long ago.
