          Even The Cricket Can Sing
          ©Copyright 2003 Rodney Dakita Garcia

          Hey Nightingale,
          Friend of mine,
          I haven’t heard you lately
          So I tried to do some rhyme
          I’ve been digging deeply down my heart
          Won‘t you join me in some harmony
          And I’ll try to play in time.

          Why do I see certain things?
          -- Like a cricket on a thicket
          In a world all his own.
          Could it be
          That even I have wings?
          It’s nice to hear the nightingale
          Singing in the Spring;
          But even the Autumn cricket sings!

          Hey Life, don’t tell me
          You refuse
          To lend your raving rhythm
          To my blues,
          For I intend to play
          Come what may,
          I’m ready for whatever
          Comes my way.

          Why do I see certain things?
          -- Like a cricket on a thicket
          In a world all his own.
          Could it be
          That even I have wings?
          It’s nice to hear the nightingale
          Singing in the Spring;
          But I’ve discovered many other things
          For even the cricket
          Yes even the cricket
          Oh even the cricket can sing!
